My name is James Shaw, but you can call me Jamey. I graduated from LSU with a degree in Marketing, in which I worked for 6 years. My dad gave me my first "real" camera, a Canon 30D. I loved figuring out how to use it.

After 6 years in marketing and graphic design and a year abroad in France, I took the plunge and quit my job to pursue photography full time.

I love to travel and never get tired of exploring my city.

I’m obsessed with photography and truly love documenting the big day for so many cool people. It is a privilege to get to witness such love and provide memories that will last for generations. I don't take that lightly.

I hate small talk. I love honest, real moments. I love becoming friends with the people who choose me to capture their biggest day.

If you've made it this far then chances are you like what you see, but let's face it...there is a photographer out there for every kind of couple.  I want to make sure we connect and hit it off.  If you're in New Orleans, let's meet up for a coffee or beer.  If you're not in town, let's schedule a call.

Let's connect

I’d love to hear from you.

Here’s a look at my own wedding from way back in 2015!

Never in a million years did I think I’d end up shooting weddings, but here we are. It all started in 2011 when a friend's sister insist I shoot her wedding. While I tried my best to decline, she wouldn't let me. I was nervous and had no idea what I was doing...I had one camera and one lens. And yes, I shot in JPEG. [Shout out to Brooke, I owe you]
The rest, as they say, is history.
